The LTX A/T2 features an advanced light truck tread rubber compound molded into an independent tread block tread design featuring Michelin Biting Edges (notched blocks in the tread pattern) that enhance traction on dirt, mud, gravel, wet grass and snow.
Michelin's Advanced MaxTouch Construction results in a unique tire footprint shape that allows for long-lasting, even treadwear while their Comfort Control Technology uses computer-optimized design and precision manufacturing to reduce vibrations and road noise to deliver a comfortable ride. The tire's internal structure includes two or three steel belts depending on the tire's Load Range and manufacturing location to enhance durability and tread puncture resistance.

It’s a tread design feature that’s apparent straightaway on-road. The LTX A/T2 produces just a faint, unobtrusive hum at low speeds and during mid-speed cornering (no thanks to the weight shift of our half-ton pickup). Insulated within a modern truck cabin, tread noise is essentially a non-factor once up to highway speeds though, which is where more aggressively treaded tires begin to “announce” their design features and off-road performance intentions.
The favorable on-road comfort characteristics should be enjoyed over the long-term – the LTX A/T2 is warrantied up to 60,000 miles (and gets the full Michelin Brand Promise treatment as well for stress-free purchasing and confident use).
Strong treadlife continues when used on gravel roads. In fact, it’s one of the LTX A/T2’s development focuses and strengths. Internal Michelin testing showed the LTX A/T2 to deliver up to 35% better tread mileage in gravel conditions as compared to leading All-Terrain tire competitors.
The A/T 2 features a larger tread contact patch to enhance grip and stability during highway driving. Ride comfort is increased through Michelin’s Comfort Control Technology, which uses a computer-optimized tread design to dramatically reduce road noise and increase ride comfort. It’s a combination that is very effective on this model as ride comfort is among the best in class.
Inside the tire you will find two high-tensile steel belts for added strength and durability. Michelin’s exclusive Max-Touch Construction promotes more even treadwear and a longer overall treadlife. This is something that many tire owners have mentioned as being exceptional with this tire. The A/T 2 is available in 15-20 inch sizes, and has a black sidewall or optional raised white letters.
Overall Thoughts
Michelin has put together an excellent all-terrain tire in the A/T2. Off-road traction is more than capable on a variety of different terrains, although it arguably lacks the brute strength of a tire like the
BF Goodrich T/A KO2 and a few others. However, while it may not be an off-road beast so to speak… it more than makes up for it with its all-around traction and handling on or off the beaten path.
Sure, there is a little road noise on the highway, but nothing that would force you to crank up the radio. It more than holds its own on wet or snow covered road surfaces, and the ride is surprisingly good for an A/T tire. These traits are among the best in class.
One area that is simply outstanding for this tire is its longer treadlife. Many reviews from other owners mention seeing up to 100K miles out of the tread.
