In 1832 the tire company we know as Michelin was actually started by Aristide Barbier and Édouard Daubrée when they opened a factory to make farm equipment and rubber balls in Clermont-Ferrand. In 1889 Edouard Michelin took over the company, which was renamed “Michelin et Cie”. Michelin (Michelin Man) is currently the second-largest tire manufacturer in the World.

The Michelin Man has received 88 total awards from J.D. Power & Associates and is the highest rated Original Equipment tire manufacturer in the World.
